Multilinguism in Healthcare

In a country as diverse as South Africa doctors and healthcare professionals should be able to communicate meaningfully and intelligibly in the language of the patient's choice and demonstrate cultural sensitivity towards patients.

Strengthening Health Systems

The Faculty is participating in the African Regional Capacity Development for Health Services and Systems Research, or ARCADE, funded by the European Union. It is coordinated by Karolinska Institute in Sweden, with SU and the Makerere University in Uganda as hub institutions in Africa. The three institutions have signed memorandums of understanding to offer joint PhD degrees in health sciences.

StellMed

StellMed focuses on the development of short courses that address the clinical needs of healthcare providers. Course content is quality assured for practicality and scientific integrity. The teaching methodology encourages adult learning principles with an emphasis on transferring relevant knowledge and practical skills that would be applicable in participant's settings.
