International Undergraduate Admission Requirements
Familiarise yourself with Stellenbosch University’s minimum admission and other selection requirements available here. The Central Admissions Office assists South African applicants following an international curriculum, while the International Office supports international citizens, refugees, asylum seekers, and permanent residents in South Africa who have completed an international curriculum and wish to apply for undergraduate studies at Stellenbosch University
Preparing for Registration:
New first-year international students do not need to apply for their matriculation exemption certificate prior to registration at Stellenbosch University, but please do an online assessment on the website of USAF at https://mbit-application.usaf.ac.za/assessment/online-assessment/ to make sure you comply with the matriculation exemption requirements.
Application for matriculation exemption certificate will only happen after registrations should you get admission to Stellenbosch University.
- All continuing undergraduate international students with international curricula must apply for matriculation exemption.
- Applications for matriculation exemption will open, 1 April.

- Continue to check the status of your matriculation exemption application on the following link https://mbit-application.usaf.ac.za/tracking/, but should you not hear from USAF within 3 months from the date of application, you may contact the Stellenbosch University International Undergraduate Admissions officer by e-mail on [email protected] to do a follow-up.
All first-year international undergraduate students, including holders of Permanent Residence in South Africa, holders of Refugees status in South Africa and holders of Asylum-Seeker status in South Africa with international curricula, must upload a CERTIFIED copy of their FINAL RESULTS to be verified by the International Office before the faculty will issue a final admission offer letter should you still meet the requirements.

- South African students with international curricula, must please use the following LINK to upload their final results.
1. If based on your final results uploaded and the programme requirements have been met, a final offer will be issued to you.
>You then need to accept or decline the offer within the allocated days.
2. If you do not meet the programme specific admission requirements, you will not be receiving any final offer but will receive an unsuccessful update.
>This means you will not be able register
Please make sure you comply with matriculation exemption requirements by doing an online assessment on the website of USAF ONLINE ASSESSMENT LINK.
PRE-REGISTRATION CLEARANCE FOR ALL INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ON THE STELLENBOSCH CAMPUS: (UNDERGRADUATE & POSTGRADUATE)
- Once you have obtained final admission to Stellenbosch University or if you are a continuing international student, you must undergo pre-registration clearance through SU International.
- This step must be completed before registering for an academic programme for the year.
- Pre-registration applies to ALL international students, including 1st year and continuing students as well as holders with permanent residence in SA (who registers for the first time at Stellenbosch University), holders of refugees in SA and holders of asylum seeker status in SA.
