UNESCO Chair on Intercultural Competence at Stellenbosch University Hosts Spring Intercultural Symposium

Nearly 100 participants from 10+ countries attended Stellenbosch University’s 2025 Spring Intercultural Symposium, featuring UNESCO Story Circles training and presentations on intercultural initiatives. The event highlighted SU’s commitment to inclusion and invited global collaboration through upcoming UNESCO Chair activities.

TriStaX 2025 Focuses on Cultivating Global Excellence Through Inclusive International Competencies

The 2025 TriStaX programme at Stellenbosch University showcased the vital role of administrative staff in advancing internationalisation and intercultural skills. Staff from SU, Hamburg, and Northwestern exchanged best practices through workshops, discussions, and cultural activities. Participants praised SU’s ubuntu ethos, student-centredness, and community engagement as models to strengthen globally.

Adams Randall

Coordinate institutional visits from international delegations to Stellenbosch University (primary contact at SU International). Facilitate links with members of the diplomatic community in South Africa. Stakeholder engagement and relationship-building responsibilities. Overseeing assigned visit logistics and protocol.

Mahlobo Thami

Engagement. His role focuses on advancing institutional partnerships, coordinating international academic and cultural programmes through the SU Japan Centre, and supporting strategic initiatives that enhance SU’s global footprint. Thami plays a key role in managing Japan–South Africa academic relations. He also serves as Secretary of the Working Group for Agreement Development (WGAD), contributing to the development and formalisation of SU’s global collaborations
