Services
Our professional and administrative support services (PASS) divisions and departments play a vital role in enabling our University to achieve its academic, research and social impact goals.
Below is an overview of some of the units that provide services to our staff.

Information Technology
The Information Technology Division plans, provides and maintains cyber-infrastructure (such as networks, central servers, e-mail and telecommunications systems,) as well as various applications, information systems and services that support teaching and learning and research. They also assist users in the effective use of information and communication technology.

Centre for Teaching and Learning
The Centre supports our academics in their teaching role through short courses, policy development, resources, research and funding. They also facilitate recognition programmes, fellowships and awards for our teaching staff.

Corporate Communication and Marketing Division
The Corporate Communication and Marketing Division drives integrated communication, branding, event and marketing strategies that support and strengthen our University’s vision and mission.

Division for Institutional Strategy, Research and Analytics
The Division for Institutional Strategy, Research and Analytics drives institutional strategy, projects, data management and decision-making support. Units include Strategy Process Management, Strategic Project and Portfolio Centre, Integrated Data Analytics and Information Governance.

Technology Transfer Office
The office manages our University’s innovation and intellectual property portfolio through seeking intellectual protection for the University’s intellectual property portfolio such as patenting, trademark, design and other forms of protection. The team also manages the licensing and formation of spin-out companies.

Facilities Management
The Facilities Management Division is responsible for our University’s physical campuses – its academic, research, sports and administrative spaces, and for the infrastructure that supports the buildings and the surrounding landscape.

Finance Division
The Finance Division provides integrated finance services, which includes financial transactions and management, financial planning and budgeting, financial reporting, acquisition services, management of student fees and financial aid and financial management of our University’s assets.

Record Management
The Record Management office is responsible for the maintenance, safe-keeping and preservation of records. They also oversee the archiving of records.

Information Governance
Information Governance supports institutional strategy, planning and policy development. It provides a framework for governance of personal information management information, business analytics and decision-making support.

SU LaunchLab
The SU LaunchLab supports our University’s entrepreneurial community (researchers, students, and alumni) to grow impactful, sustainable and profitable businesses, and access to market and funding opportunities.

SU Language Centre
The Centre offers professional language and communication courses and services to our staff, students, organisations and individuals. This includes language learning and teaching, academic literacies and professional communication, translation, language editing, interpreting and corporate communication.

Legal Services
Legal Services resides within the Registrar’s Division and provides in-house professional legal assistance to the University. It comprises of the following offices: Litigation and Legal Advice, Commercial Contracts Office and the Student Discipline Office.

Secretariat
The Secretariat provides administrative support for meetings of the Stellenbosch University Council and the following committees: Executive Committee of Council; Honorary Degrees Committee; Audit and Risk Committee; Social and Business Ethics Committee; and Language Committee.

Innovus
Innovus maximises our University’s impact on the African continent by leveraging the University’s research outputs to promote entrepreneurship, create new jobs and develop products and services that meet societal needs. It comprises four offices: the Technology Transfer Office; the SU LaunchLab; the SU Copyright, Trade Marks and Short Courses Office; and the SunCom Business Office.
