Archives
What we do
The Archives plays a key role in safeguarding the University’s legacy by collecting, preserving and providing access to records of lasting historical significance. From Senate and Council minutes that date back to 1864 to photographic collections that capture moments of academic and social life, our work links the past with the present. We focus on making archival materials accessible through on-site research facilities and digital resources, enabling researchers, students and alums to explore and engage with this rich heritage. Along with preservation, our exhibitions and initiatives highlight pivotal moments in Stellenbosch University's history, fostering a greater appreciation for its development and impact. Each project we undertake reflects our commitment to preserving the University’s story for future generations.
