Stellenbosch University (SU) is a South African higher education institution founded on 2 April 1918, with four faculties and 503 students. Since then, it has become a leading research-intensive university with ten faculties, five campuses, and a diverse student community of over 31,000 students and 4,500 staff members. Stellenbosch University's mission is to be globally recognised for excellence, inclusivity, and innovation, guided by values of compassion, equity, accountability, and respect. SU’s Vision 2040 and Strategic Framework 2019-2024 aim to create a thriving institution, provide a transformative student experience, foster partnerships, and become Africa's leading research-intensive university.

Language policy promotes multilingualism
At SU, we remain committed to inclusive multilingualism. Our language policy, which Council approved in 2016, was revised and approved for implementation last year – in its fifth year of operation, as prescribed by the policy itself.
