Wellness, holistic wellbeing and recreation

SU fosters a culture of holistic staff wellbeing, focusing on physical, social and emotional health. Services include accessible professional support, health promotion campaigns, and opportunities for holistic self-development through personal goal-setting and community involvement.

The Employee Wellness Office provides confidential counselling, crisis intervention and health guidance within a caring support structure. Wellness initiatives are coordinated by the Human Resources Wellbeing Office, which collaborates with Maties Gym and other SU facilities to promote regular exercise and healthy lifestyles for employees.

SU regularly holds Health Days featuring health screenings, wellness talks and sport clinics tailored for staff.

Social impact

As we strive to advance knowledge in service of society, our staff is committed to making a difference. They are deeply involved in social impact, often participating in faculty social responsibility projects, serving on social impact committees and volunteering for community organisations.

Initiatives are coordinated by various faculty committees, ensuring that staff expertise aligns with societal needs – ranging from support for local nonprofits to transformation and community upliftment efforts. Staff are encouraged to contribute both within their disciplines and as part of university-wide projects making a tangible societal impact.
