Biography

Hermann Swart is 'n Senior Lektor in die Departement Sielkunde aan die Universiteit Stellenbosch. Hy doseer Sosiale Sielkunde op voorgraadse en nagraadse vlak en het twee keer erkenning ontvang vir onderriguitnemendheid aan die Universiteit Stellenbosch. Hy het 'n B.Sc (Sielkunde), Hons. B.Sc (Sielkunde) en M.Sc. (Voorligtingsielkunde) grade van die Universiteit Stellenbosch en het sy doktorsgraad in Sosiale Sielkunde aan die Universiteit van Oxford, Engeland, as 'n Rhodes-beurshouer verwerf. Hy dien as 'n konsulterende redakteur vir Group Processes and Intergroup Relations en is 'n lid van die European Association of Social Psychology (EASP), die Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues (SPSSI), Society for Personality and Social Psychology (SPSP), en die International Society for Political Psychology (ISPP). Hy het gepubliseer in toonaangewende internasionale tydskrifte, insluitend Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Personality and Social Psychology Review, Group Processes and Intergroup Relations, en British Journal of Social Psychology. Hermann is 'n mentor in die Early Career Academic Development (ECAD) program aan die Universiteit Stellenbosch.

My navorsingsbelangstellings sluit in diversiteit, intergroepkontak, intergroepemosies, vooroordeel en stereotipe-vermindering in post-konflik-samelewings, en interpersoonlike vriendskappe, en ek spesialiseer in gevorderde kwantitatiewe navorsingsmetodologie (insluitend longitudinale opname-navorsing en eksperimentele metodes) en gevorderde statistiese ontledings (insluitend longitudinale, multivlak- en multigroep-strukturele vergelykingsmodellering). In 2015 was ek 'n mede-ontvanger van die Gordon Allport Intergroepverhoudingsprys vir "die beste referaat of artikel van die jaar oor intergroepverhoudings" van die Vereniging vir Sielkundige Studie van Sosiale Kwessies (VSA). Ek het 'n Y1-navorsergradering van die Nasionale Navorsingstigting in Suid-Afrika.
