Biography
Prof. Roomaney het haar voorgraadse studies aan die Universiteit van die Witwatersrand voltooi, met Sielkunde en Sosiologie as hoofvakke. Sy het daarna haar honneursgraad aan die Universiteit van die Wes-Kaap (UWC) en 'n beradingsinternskap by die Suid-Afrikaanse Nasionale Instituut vir Misdaadvoorkoming en die Herintegrasie van Oortreders (NICRO) voltooi, wat gelei het tot registrasie as 'n geregistreerde berader by die Raad vir Gesondheidsberoepe van Suid-Afrika (HPCSA). Prof. Roomaney het haar MA Navorsingsielkunde aan die UWC en haar navorsingsinternskap by die Suid-Afrikaanse Mediese Navorsingsraad as 'n intern van die Nasionale Navorsingstigting voltooi voordat sy as navorsingsielkundige by die HPCSA geregistreer het. Sy het daarna haar PhD in 2017 aan die Universiteit Stellenbosch verwerf.

Oor my navorsing
Prof. Roomaney is 'n NRF Y1-gegradeerde navorser en doen die meeste van haar navorsing op die gebied van gesondheidsielkunde. Sy stel belang in die sielkundige, gedrags- en sosiale aspekte van siekte, gesondheid en gesondheidsorg. Terwyl haar navorsing meestal op vrouegesondheid gesentreer is, is sy oop vir samewerking oor 'n wye reeks onderwerpe binne die veld. Sy het studente oor verskeie onderwerpe toesig gehou, insluitend borskanker, ginekologiese kankers, endometriose, premenstruele disforiese versteuring en polisistiese ovariumsindroom. Sy het 'n groeiende belangstelling in hoe pasiëntpopulasies aanlynruimtes gebruik in verhouding tot hul gesondheidsgedrag en gesondheidskibersielkunde. Prof. Roomaney is die nasionale afgevaardigde vir Suid-Afrika by die Europese Gesondheidsielkundevereniging en is voorsitter van die Gesondheidsielkunde-afdeling van die Sielkundige Vereniging van Suid-Afrika.
