Preparing for Departure to SU
Once you’ve submitted your application and confirmed your decision to study at SU, here are a few important things to consider as you prepare for your departure to Stellenbosch:
- Fees: Familiarise yourself with the tuition and other fees associated with your studies.
- Accommodation: Ensure you have secured your accommodation before your arrival.
- VISA Immigration : Make sure your study visa processed and ready for your entry into South Africa
- Medical Cover: All students registering at Stellenbosch University on a study visa must have South African medical cover from the start date of their visa until 31 December of the academic year in which they are registered.

Pre-Departure and Arrival

Airport transfers on Arrival
SU International offers a free transfer service between Cape Town International Airport and Stellenbosch for incoming international students.
Once you have booked your flight, please complete the online arrival form to arrange your airport pickup. Kindly submit the form at least one week before your arrival.

Welcoming and Orientation
SU International hosts a dedicated orientation programme for all incoming semester students to help you settle in smoothly—both academically and socially.
Orientation takes place in two phases:
- Phase 1: Pre-Departure (Online)
Held before your arrival, this virtual session covers important information to help you prepare for life at SU. - Phase 2: On-Campus Welcome Week
Once you arrive in Stellenbosch, you’ll take part in an engaging in-person programme designed to support your integration into university life and the local community.
