Course Description
It is increasingly expected of researchers to generate research funds. To do so, researchers need to acquire grant writing skills or hone the skills they already have. Although funding organisations and their application requirements differ, there are important elements expected by all funding agencies, whether it relates to small or to large grants. These elements will be addressed in these courses (English and French).

How to overcome “writer’s block” when you start writing a grant proposal
What basic and core components a grant application should have to make it competitive
What “peer review” means
Why it is important to indicate impact and what funders mean by it
What pitfalls to avoid when writing a grant proposal
How to approach the budget and what elements to include How to identify funding opportunities

Programme Structure:
These intensive, two-day online courses are structured around a series of interactive sessions that combine clear, focused input with applied practical exercises. Learning is reinforced through short, between-session assignments that encourage reflection, consolidation, and the progressive application of key concepts in a structured and iterative manner.
Target Audience:
The courses are designed for academics, postgraduate students, and professionals seeking to develop or strengthen their grant proposal writing skills, particularly those involved in research, project development, or funding applications.
Purpose:
The courses equip participants with practical skills to develop clear, competitive grant proposals by understanding core components, funding expectations, and common pitfalls. It also provides strategies for structuring proposals, demonstrating impact, and navigating peer review to strengthen the likelihood of securing funding
The ADA reserves the right to cancel any course should the minimum required number of participants not be reached. In such cases, all fees already paid will be fully refunded, or where possible, delegates will be offered the option to transfer to an alternative course.
