Biography

Professor Andries Engelbrecht is currentlly a professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering (Faculty of Engineering) and the Division of Computer Science (Faculty of Science). He is also a Research Fellow with Gulf University of Science and Technology, The Center for Applied Mathematics and Bioinformatics, Kuwait. Prof Engelbrecht completed his undergraduate and postgraduate studies at Stellenbosch University.

He is an NRF A-rated researcher with research interests in swarm intelligence, evolutionary computation, hyper-heuristics, machine learning, and data science, with application of these artificial intelligence paradigms to data mining, finance, health, and difficult optimization problems.

His research interests include:
