Stellenbosch University offers a wide range of postgraduate study options – from postgraduate diplomas and honours to master’s and doctoral programmes – across ten faculties and through interdisciplinary initiatives such as the School for Data Science and Computational Thinking. All programmes are presented in English.
If you are considering a research-based degree (master’s or PhD), it is highly recommended that you connect with a potential academic supervisor before applying. Doing so allows you to discuss your research interests, explore funding opportunities, and ensure that your application is well-prepared and aligned with current projects. Each programme has a dedicated postgraduate coordinator who can assist you in finding the right supervisor or contact person in your field. Faculty and School websites list their coordinators’ details.
When applying through SU’s online application system, you may be asked to provide additional programme-specific documents. These are mandatory and must be submitted before your application can be finalised.
Applications are subject to faculty-specific closing dates, which vary per programme. Be sure to check the deadlines on the relevant faculty’s webpage.
