Geen berg is hoog genoeg nie!
- Antoinette van der Merwe, Chief Director Information Technology's year-end message
As the year draws to a close, it’s time to pause, reflect, and celebrate a chorus of achievements that show just how far we’ve come together.
From the approval of our ICT Acceptable Use Policy, setting a strong tone for governance, to strengthening our security posture and cyber resilience, we have laid a solid foundation for what’s next — this year we truly proved that “We Are the Champions.”
The beat of our achievements continued with stronger programme and project management capabilities, the stabilisation of SUNStudent and SUNLearn, and the initial steps to chart clear roadmaps for our SIS and ERP solutions — proving that even on “The Long and Winding Road,” we are steadily moving toward something greater.
With a renewed focus on business architecture, mapping our as-is and to-be processes collaboratively, and approving the revised Institutional Architecture principles, we’ve been “Building This City / University” — one process and principle at a time.
Meanwhile, the Tygerberg WiFi upgrade strengthened connectivity, and the tireless efforts from the IT Helpdesk, Service Centre, Hub, Relationship Managers, TAS, financial and administrative teams never missed a beat — demonstrating that teamwork and care are at the heart of everything we do.
It’s impossible to highlight all the unsung heroes across IT in one message, so this note focuses on a selection of achievements that exemplify the dedication, creativity, and resilience of our division.
To Albert Meyer, Anthony Bailey and Mariaan van der Merwe who are retiring at the end of 2025, thank you for your incredible contributions and dedication; you will be missed, and we wish you all the best in the next chapter of your lives.
To each member of this incredible team: thank you for your passion, dedication, creativity, and care. You’ve turned vision into reality and challenges into opportunities.
As we head into the holidays, may you find time to rest, recharge, and celebrate with those who make your world brighter. Here’s to a joyful festive season and a 2026 filled with innovation, collaboration, and new possibilities.
Because together there “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.”
