Division for Defence Management, Organisation and Human Resource Sciences
The Division of Defence Management, Organisation and Human Resource Sciences is dedicated to developing the full professional potential of members of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF). The Division equips students with the knowledge, attitudes and practical skills required to manage people, resources and organisational environments effectively within the unique context of the military.
Through a range of integrated academic programmes, the Division provides a comprehensive and well-rounded education in organisational, psychological, legal and managerial disciplines. These programmes support continued postgraduate study and research, while promoting critical thinking, sound judgement and the interdisciplinary interpretation of the contemporary military environment.

It aims to orientate students to the organisational, ethical and operational realities of the SANDF and to provide the foundational competencies required for continuous growth in a dynamic defence environment.
Through its holistic approach, the Division cultivates leaders who can evaluate, manage and adapt to complex organisational challenges, and who are prepared to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of the SANDF and the broader national security sector.
The curriculum is grounded in theoretical and applied study, offering modules in Industrial Psychology, Leadership Development, Management of Cultural Diversity, Operational and Peacekeeping Psychology, Criminal and Military Law, Research Methodology and Statistics, English Studies, Academic Writing, Computer Literacy and Critical Thinking. This academic foundation prepares students for future careers as commanders and as junior to senior personnel within the military context.
