  • Support Global Recycling Day in March: Bring your e-waste and drop it in the yellow bins at the various sites on our campuses

To create awareness about Global Recycling Day on 18 March 2026,and the importance of proper disposal of e-waste, Stellenbosch University's (SU) Campus Development, Infrastructure and Services Division (CDIS) once again encourages all staff and students to bring their electronic waste (e-waste) to various locations on our campuses between 11 March and 18 March 2026.

Here are the various dropoff locations on Stellenbosch and Tygerberg Campuses

  • 11 March 2026 from 12:00 – 14:00 Tygerberg campus: Education Building Foyer close to MyBrew
  • 12 March from 12:00 – 14:00 Tygerberg campus: TSS stoep area
  • 12:00 -14:00 Bellville Park campus: Main building, area between Yellowwood and Marula lecture halls.
  • 13 March from 12:00 - 14:00 Stellenbosch campus: outside Maties Gym at Coetzenburg
  • 16 March from 12:00 – 14:00 Stellenbosch campus: Rooiplein with Stellenbosch Municipality
  • 17 March from 12:00 – 14:00 Stellenbosch campus: Rooiplein with Stellenbosch Municipality
  • 18 March from 12:00 – 14:00 Stellenbosch campus: grass area between IT and Launchlab, Hammandshand Road.

Look out for the yellow e-waste bins and bring all your unwanted, faulty and used electrical and electronic equipment and its parts that you have disregarded without intending to reuse again. You can also bring your old batteries, broken charging cables, used vapes and any appliance or device that does not have an SU asset number — even those from home.

Please ensure you wipe all your data from your device's hard drive before you recycle your electronic devices.

Let's be responsible consumers and do our part to send zero waste to landfill to create a healthier environment.
