- Facilities Management Changes Name to Campus Development, Infrastructure and Services (CDIS)
Stellenbosch University’s (SU) Facilities Management Division (SUFM) adopted a new name: Campus Development, Infrastructure and Services (CDIS), a title that better reflects the full range of functions the division carries out.
“Over the past several years, SUFM’s responsibilities have expanded beyond traditional facilities management to include development planning, infrastructure stewardship, sustainability leadership, asset lifecycle planning, campus operational services, infrastructure risk, client experience functions, and digital FM platforms. The name “Facilities Management” no longer represents this broader scope or the strategic value the function delivers across all campuses,” says Nicolette van den Eijkel, Chief Director. She says the new name also reflects the division’s responsibility for long-term campus development, capital investment, utilities management, engineering governance, maintenance systems, digitalisation, and multi-campus services.
Prof Nicola Smit, SU’s Acting Chief Operating Officer for the Responsibility Centre Operations and Finance, said this new alignment supports the broader changes underway in the bigger RC. “The new name and focus will ensure a clearer focus, accountability, and support for the University’s evolving needs.”
