Unit for International Higher Education in Africa Research
The Unit for International Higher Education in Africa Research (IHEAR) programme situated within the Centre for Capacity Development in Africa (CCDA) advances research on student education trajectories, pathways, and transitions across Africa, while building a collaborative community of researchers and practitioners. The programme promotes knowledge sharing through newsletters, policy briefs, workshops, and seminars, translating research into action and fostering stakeholder collaboration. It also supports monitoring and evaluation within the Centre by collecting and analysing data to guide evidence-based planning, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Aligned with Stellenbosch University’s strategic priorities, IHEAR enhances research excellence, societal impact, and institutional sustainability. By producing interdisciplinary, policy-engaged research and cultivating partnerships—particularly across Africa—it contributes to higher education development while positioning the University as a leading, research-intensive institution with meaningful societal relevance.
