The Local and Global Goals Project (LIV), is a collaborative experiential learning initiative between Stellenbosch University (South Africa) and VUC Storstrøm (Denmark). Students reflect on learning that takes place beyond the classroom, learning shaped by culture, community engagement, and real-world experiences.

What the Sunburst Shows 

The sunburst is structured to reflect how experiential learning operates across the institution: 

  • Years (centre outward) show institutional growth and consolidation over time

  • Recognition categories indicate the types of experiential learning being foregrounded

  • Faculties demonstrate the breadth of disciplinary participation

  • Individual experiential learning initiatives highlight the diversity, scale, and specificity of learning opportunities 

The interactive design allows users to explore the data at multiple levels, from high-level institutional trends to the granular contribution of specific initiatives, without losing the integrity of the overall picture.
