​DID YOU KNOW?

​Personal information: 
Personal information is any information that can be used to identify a person or a business. This includes the information you may have of your customers, your employees, or service providers.

Breach: 
Reasonable grounds to believe that personal information (any information that can be used to identify a person or a business, e.g. staff or student number, address, financial information, educational information) has been accessed/acquired by an unauthorised person.

Public Wi-Fi networks can be less secure. Avoid accessing sensitive information, like banking details, when connected to public Wi-Fi networks.

PRIVACY ASSESSMENT​

​If you suspect a potential incident involving a breach of personal information, please report it immediately to Information Governance via our service desk or e-mail:

​Institutional permission serves as a key control to ensure that Stellenbosch University, and its researchers, comply with and give effect to South African privacy-related legislation. 

Institutional permission (also known as gatekeeper’s permission) is necessary for all research about the University as an institution, including information about the University’s operations, employees, students, alumni, partners, and other stakeholders.
