SU helps facilitate entrepreneurial innovation with high impact workshop

SU and CPUT co-host a high-level workshop on building entrepreneurial universities in the SADC region. The four-day Erasmus+ initiative unites academia, industry and government to co-create innovation-driven curricula. SU leaders emphasise entrepreneurship as key to tackling youth unemployment and driving Africa’s transformation.

Tears of Joy for Ubuntu Graduates

A special graduation ceremony took place at the Brandvlei Correctional Centre just outside Worcester on Thursday (23 October 2025). Friends, families, and lecturers gathered to celebrate the graduates of the Ubuntu Learning Community Interdisciplinary Short Course. At this end-of-year event, participants received certificates for completing an SU-accredited interdisciplinary short course.

Nobel Laureate, entrepreneur and scientist among those to receive honorary doctorates from SU

The University annually confers honorary doctorates. Honorary doctorates are conferred upon extraordinary individuals who have distinguished themselves in their respective fields and made a significant contribution to society. The recipients Prof Abdulrazak Gurnah, Colin Deiner, Chris Otto, Dr Olive Shisana and Dr Tjaart Johannes van der Walt.

Social Justice Champion Awards celebrates unsung heroes advancing equality

Stellenbosch University honoured South Africa’s unsung champions of equality at the annual Social Justice Champion Awards. Dr Sheena Swemmer, Sonja Cilliers, Chevano Frans and Lesego Louw were recognised for advancing justice and community upliftment. Speakers urged collective action, reminding guests that social justice requires empathy, courage and shared responsibility.
