Powerful training programmeSince 2022, MFM has trained over 50 new broadcast media practitioners in a structured and intensive training programme. To maintain momentum and growth, new trainees are accepted twice a year, trained, and then mentored on a continuous basis. “We take pride in developing young, passionate voices who are committed to excellence and facilitate content that leads to a transformative broadcast experience for everyone,” says Martin de Abreu, program manager in the Division Institutional Strategy, Research and Analytics and acting station manager of MFM.“The last few years have been a period of significant growth. Our focussed and intense training programme covers the full spectrum of skills required in modern broadcasting. A critical part of our approach is ensuring thorough preparation, research and execution, backed by robust systems and processes. “In our day-to-day work, we also emphasise a culture of values-based management and interactions. By encouraging emerging, diverse voices to not only entertain, but also inform and connect with our community, we make sure every broadcast has substance and a transformative effect. The results are already evident as testified through the quality, diversity and calibre of our content, guests, partners and continuous audience engagement.”De Abreu says the staff’s hard work, over the last few years, is starting to show its rewards and the nominations reflect the progress and success of the station.
