Innovus Technology Transfer Office (TTO), in partnership with Dommisse Attorneys Inc. invite you to the 2026 Conflict-of-Interest (CoI) Webinar Series designed specifically for researchers and entrepreneurs involved in commercialisation activities, spin-out companies or industry collaborations. SU's innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem continues to grow, with many researchers taking on additional roles as founders, directors, shareholders, CEOs or advisors to spin-out companies. While these activities are encouraged and supported by the University, they also require careful management to ensure that conflicts of interest are identified, disclosed and appropriately managed in accordance with university policies and good corporate governance practices.

This three-part webinar series will provide practical guidance on:

  • Understanding conflict of interest within university research and innovation environments;
  • The University's Conflict-of-Interest Policy and relevant Research Office processes;
  • Managing conflicts of interest when establishing or participating in spin-out companies;
  • Corporate governance responsibilities of directors, shareholders and company leadership; and
  • Practical approaches to protecting both your research and your company while remaining compliant with university requirements.

The sessions will be presented by both experts from SU and legal specialists from Dommisse Attorneys Inc., and who will share practical insights and real-world examples relevant to research entrepreneurs.
