The Division of Surgery, Stellenbosch University welcomes all international undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors who wish to do an international health elective in Cape Town. We offer electives in the field of Trauma. The competition for placements is intense. The registration process may take up to 12 months to complete, please enquire well in advance about available elective places.

Follow these steps to arrange your international health elective:

Download the Information document and read it carefully to see if you are eligible.

STEP 2
Contact the Tygerberg International Office to assist you further with your application.
STEP 3
The Tygerberg International office will liaise with the Division of Surgery regarding availability of your requested dates.
STEP 4
Once we have reached agreement on the dates of your elective, TI will contact you to finalise your application.
STEP 5
You will receive an email one week before the start of your elective indicating where to report to on arrival.
STEP 6
Enjoy an experience of a lifetime while learning and applying medical skills.

We will contact you within 10 working days with further instructions or to advise if your requested dates are not available.
STEP 4
Once your elective dates are confirmed, we will inform the Tygerberg International Office to assist you further.
STEP 5
You will receive an email a week before the start of your elective with instructions on where to report on arrival.
