Stay safe during winter recess
Campus will soon become deserted following the June exams, and the safety risks will increase. Please make your personal safety a priority, and also safeguard your personal possessions, office and/or room both during the exams and the winter recess. Being no different from the rest of the country, Stellenbosch University's campuses and surrounding areas too continue to be targeted by criminals, even though we have numerous security measures in place. Students, staff and Campus Security are jointly responsible for safety on campus. Therefore, please remain vigilant at all times, make use of Transport Services' shuttle service and Campus Security's pedestrian escort service, and immediately report any suspicious persons or activities. Shuttle and pedestrian escort service The pedestrian escort service will continue to be available during winter recess. To make use of the service on the Stellenbosch campus, phone 021 808 4666 (or send a WhatsApp to 082 808 2333); for the service on Tygerberg campus, phone 021 938 9507. (Use the emergency number, 021808 2333, if the numbers above are not available.)
The University's shuttle service will also remain operational during recess. The day-time shuttle (on weekdays) runs from 07:00 to 17:30, while the night-time shuttle operates every hour from 18:00 to 02:00, Mondays to Sundays. The night-time shuttle departs from the Neelsie parking area and will take students to their lodging within a 6 km radius. For more information, visit the Transport Services website.
