  • The Department of Social Work hosted several International Schools of Social Work between February and March.

In an increasingly globalised world, where local social issues echo worldwide and global forces reshape local communities, the Department of Social Work at Stellenbosch University is stepping up its international presence. Aligned with SU's vision as a research-intensive institution, the department is building purposeful bilateral partnerships across Africa and beyond, joining multilateral alliances, and creating transformative learning opportunities for students through collaborations with schools of social work globally.

From February to March this year, the department hosted delegations from several prestigious international schools of social work. These visits sparked rich discussions on social work programmes, curricula, and the unique contexts shaping the profession in different regions. This includes but is not limited to South Africa's post-apartheid landscape to global challenges like migration and various forms of inequalities.

The initiatives underscore SU Social Work's commitment to innovative, contextually relevant education that prepares practitioners for a globalised world.
