Matieland is Stellenbosch University’s (SU) marketing magazine, which is published biennially and distributed among alumni, donors, visitors and clients of SU.
The University is rooted in Africa and is global in its reach. Over the past one hundred years, it has grown into a South African higher education institution with the vision to be a leading research-intensive university on the African continent, to be globally recognised as excellent, inclusive and innovative and where knowledge is advanced in service of society. Matieland is a full-colour magazine that reflects this vision. It is available in both English and Afrikaans, and is published as a printed as well as digital edition.

Sometimes, it is the determination that carries an athlete through the final metres of a race; other times, it is the courage to shine light on what others would prefer to keep hidden, or the gentle act of helping children feel that they belong. This edition celebrates the people who remind us that bravery often begins in the mind, long before it becomes action.
