Open access publishing support
Over the years, the Library and Information Service has established deals that provide substantial discounts on article processing charges (APCs) and in many instances enable authors to publish their work open access at no cost to them. In practical terms, as of year 2026, SU researchers can now publish Open Access in 10 933 journal titles many of which are subscription-based journals to which the Library subscribes. These advancements, largely facilitated through SANLiC negotiated ‘read and publish’ agreements with aim continue to remove financial barriers and boost the global visibility of South African research.
