Off-campus electronic access
Access to electronic resources the Library pays for
All electronic resources offered by the Library and Information Service are available via our library website.
In terms of the license agreements governing the electronic resources that the Library subscribes to, access to these resources is restricted to Stellenbosch University staff members and currently registered students.
Do a Library Search on the library website or choose All library resources, Databases or E-journals from the FIND menu. When off-campus and prompted to sign-on, log in with your campus username (not email address) and password.

User electronic application process
If you are not a registered Stellenbosch University student or staff member with your own campus username and password, see the user e-application options to follow for access to electronic services on the university campus (and off-campus).
Postgraduate and prospective postgraduate students
Please submit your postgraduate student application through the University's application system (SUNStudent applicant portal). This process is handled by the University's Admission Office.

Enquiries regarding your electronic application can be directed to Stellenbosch University Client Services.
After completing the aforementioned procedure, you will gain access to the subscription e-resources and your library account to, renew your books online, on the library website with your campus username and password.
Staff and external workers
Should you find yourself at the University as an staff member or external worker without your own campus username and password, please consult with your departmental secretary to complete an Identity record on SUNiD and create a SU username, which is handled by the Information Technology Division of the University.
Enquiries regarding your campus username can be directed to your departmental secretary.
Once abovementioned process is done, you will gain access to the subscription e-resources and your library account to, renew your books online, on the library website with your campus username and password.
Pensioners
Due to licensing agreements, access to the library's subscription e-resources is restricted to currently registered students and staff members of Stellenbosch University.
