Off-campus electronic access
Due to licensing agreements, access to some electronic resources is restricted to currently registered students and staff members of Stellenbosch University.
All electronic resources offered by the Library and Information Service are available via our library website. Do a Library Search on the library website or click on FIND and click on Databases or E-journals.
When off-campus and prompted to sign-on, log in with your SU username (NOT email address) and password.

User electronic application process
If you are not a registered Stellenbosch University student or staff member with your own campus username and password, see the user e-application options to follow for access to electronic services on the university campus (and off-campus).
Postgraduate students
Any prospective postgraduate student who is not a registered postgraduate Stellenbosch University student with their own campus username and password, must follow the SU’s user electronic application process for access to electronic services (includes access to the library’s e-resources) on the university campus (and off-campus).
Please submit your postgraduate student application through the University's application system (SUNStudent applicant portal). This process is handled by the University's Admission Office.

After completing the aforementioned procedure, you will gain access to the subscription e-resources and your library account to, renew your books online, on the library website with your campus username (NOT email address) and password.
Staff and external workers
Should you find yourself at the University as an staff member or external worker without your own campus username and password, please consult with your departmental secretary to complete an Identity record on SUNiD and create a SU username, which is handled by the Information Technology Division of the University.
Enquiries regarding your campus username can be directed to your departmental secretary.
Once abovementioned process is done, you will gain access to the subscription e-resources and your library account to, renew your books online, on the library website with your campus username (NOT email address) and password.
Pensioners
