Division of Neurosurgery

The Division of Neurosurgery, housed within the Department of Surgical Sciences is based at Tygerberg Academic Hospital, where our neurosurgery team handles everything from spinal surgery to craniofacial reconstruction, treating some of the most challenging neurological conditions. As part of the Clinical Neuroscience Unit, we work closely with neuroradiology, endocrinology, and pathology experts to ensure our patients receive the highest level of comprehensive care.

Education lies at the heart of our work. Our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes provide immersive, hands-on training that equips future neurosurgeons with the practical skills and confidence they need to excel. As part of the Clinical Neuroscience Unit, we work closely with neuroradiology, endocrinology, and pathology experts to ensure our patients receive the highest level of comprehensive care. Neurosurgery is undeniably challenging, but we meet that challenge every day – because when it comes to brain and spine health, excellence is not just an aspiration; it’s an absolute necessity.
