Department of Speech-Language and Therapy

The Division of Speech-Language and Hearing Therapy, housed within the Department of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, is committed to transforming communication health and empowering students to make a lasting impact. Our programmes offer comprehensive training in preventing, assessing and treating communication and swallowing disorders, preparing graduates to excel in healthcare, education and community settings.

We emphasise hands-on clinical experience through partnerships with respected institutions like Tygerberg Hospital and local community centres, allowing students to hone their skills in real-world environments. Beyond our undergraduate offerings, our postgraduate degrees focus on groundbreaking research that enriches the global knowledge base in speech-language and hearing sciences – ensuring our graduates are well-equipped to advance the field and improve lives.
