How to optimise your USB MBA
23 February 2016
Last week USB's Careers Office hosted a presentation by Dale Fobian, a life coach and counsellor, on how you can optimise your MBA.
Fobian explained the two key career derailment risks that confront employees and organisations today:
- Longer runs: Employees are staying in role 30% longer today
- Steeper rises: Employees often take on significantly bigger and broader responsibilities when promotions do occur.
"The reality is that we can't support a promotion-based culture. We want employees to start thinking about their career in terms of growth instead of narrowly focusing on how to get the next promotion," he said.
About the current career lansdcape Dale added that both employers and employees are dissatisfied with today's careers. "Seventy-five percent of heads of HR anticipate an upcoming internal skills shortageand only 30% of employees are satisfied with future career opportunities."
