Immunology

As part of Stellenbosch University’s Department of Biomedical Sciences, the Division of Immunology is devoted to exploring the immune system’s vital role in health and disease. Our research spans tuberculosis immunology, reproductive immunology and bioinformatics, connecting laboratory discoveries with clinical practice to develop innovative approaches for improved healthcare. Our work deepens scientific understanding, informs policies and enhances treatments.

At the heart of our division is a commitment to education. We offer a range of postgraduate training opportunities – from honours to master’s and doctoral levels – that provide hands-on experience in pioneering immunological research. Our supportive environment, dedicated mentorship and abundant resources ensure that students are well-prepared to become leaders in the field and ready to make a lasting impact on healthcare.
