Clinical Services and Social Impact
The Portfolio of Clinical Services and Social Impact supports the FMHS’s strategic vision of transformative, life-long learning, advancing health equity, and co-creating value with communities. In collaboration with partners such as the Western Cape Government: Health, the Northern Cape Department of Health, and the National Health Laboratory Services, the Faculty educates health professionals equipped to advance universal access to healthcare.
These partnerships aim to achieve excellence in healthcare delivery, teaching, and research. A key strategy involves training students in rural and underserved areas, while actively engaging with civil society, the public health sector, and local communities to foster meaningful, real-world learning experiences.
Social impact goals are integrated into professional practice and service learning through various levels of community participation. Clear engagement strategies, sustainable interventions, and ongoing evaluation are essential to these efforts. Grounded in the FMHS’s teaching, research, and innovation, this approach ensures that graduates are not only clinically competent but also socially responsive, contributing to healthier, more equitable communities.
