The Faculty of Engineering is one of Stellenbosch University’s flagships faculties and for good reason. For decades, we’ve graduated leading engineers who push South Africa’s boundaries of global innovation and impact.

Home to around 3500 undergraduate and 1200 postgraduate students, our faculty fosters a vibrant, inclusive environment that encourages curiosity and collaboration. State-of-the-art facilities spark fresh thinking and hands-on experimentation, while our deep connections with industry help students turn academic discoveries into real-world solutions.

Our Mission

We educate, train and develop highly skilled, innovative, and entrepreneurial engineers through high-quality, globally recognised, and industry-relevant undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, supported by impactful research and specialist consulting. We foster a diverse and inclusive environment where students and staff collaborate across boundaries to address and solve complex engineering challenges, ensuring ecological, social, and financial sustainability.

We offer a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the engineering world.

Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degrees in:

These programmes are accredited by the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA), ensuring that our graduates meet international standards so that they can also register as professional engineers abroad.

Postgraduate programmes:

  • Postgraduate Diplomas in Engineering
  • Master of Engineering (MEng) degrees, available in both research-based and structured formats across various specialisations
  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees in Engineering
