Our Vision
Our distinguishing features:
Our Faculty of Education stands out because of its distinctive blend of multilingual instruction, inclusive educational practices and close-knit global partnerships.
This approach to interdisciplinary teaching and research goes beyond conventional school settings, enabling students to develop new and inventive ways to connect curriculum, psychology and policy theories.
Dedicated centres, such as the Centre for Higher and Adult Education and the Stellenbosch University Centre for Pedagogy, work alongside the three departments to extend learning across ages and contexts. This allows us to nurture adaptable educators who engage deeply with local communities while staying in step with international research and best practices, ultimately shaping a more equitable and dynamic educational environment.

Our undergraduate programmes:
Our faculty offers two undergraduate programmes:
- BEd Foundation Phase Education: Prepares educators for Grades R to 3, focusing on foundational learning.
- BEd Intermediate Phase Education: Trains teachers for Grades 4 to 6 and offers options to specialise in subject areas.
Both programmes combine theoretical and practical learning.

We offer three dynamic areas of study, each addressing a vital aspect of teaching, learning and research. Together, they explore how to design meaningful curricula, support human potential and understand the intersection between education and societal progress.
Curriculum Studies - Focuses on curriculum development, teaching strategies and subject-specific expertise.
Educational Psychology - Develops programmes to support human potential in schools and communities.
Educational Policy Studies - Examines the intersection of education, development and democracy.
