MSc (Agric)  

Advance Your Expertise in Soil Science 

The MSc (Agric) in Soil Science is a two-year, research-based master’s degree that allows you to deepen your knowledge and contribute to innovative solutions in sustainable soil and land management. 

You’ll conduct independent research on an approved topic under the guidance of an academic supervisor, culminating in an original MSc thesis (Soil Science 878). The programme concludes with the submission of your thesis and an oral examination. 
 

Admission Requirements 

  • A four-year BSc (Agric) degree with a minimum average of 60% in your final-year subjects, OR
  • An Honours degree in Soil Science with a minimum average of 60% in your final-year subjects.

PhD (Agric) 

Become a specialist in the science that sustains life. 

The PhD (Agric) in Soil Science is a research-focused doctoral degree designed for students who want to advance knowledge in the field of soil science and make a meaningful contribution to sustainable agriculture and environmental management. 

You will conduct independent, original research in a chosen area of specialization under the guidance of an expert supervisor. Your studies will culminate in a PhD dissertation (Soil Science 978) and an oral examination.
