Vision 2040 and Strategic Framework articulate our long-term vision and sets out the framework that guides our planning, positioning and priorities towards becoming a leading research-intensive institution. Together with Strategy Plan 2019-2024 (Phase 1) and Strategy Plan 2026-2030 (Phase 2), it shapes the work of all faculties, responsibility centres, and support services.

Continuity and progression

In 2025, SU reaffirmed its commitment to the vision, mission, values, attributes, enablers and six core strategic themes originally adopted in 2019. These remain unchanged.

Strategy Plan 2026-2030

Three updates have been made for the new planning cycle. The date reference "2019–2024" has been removed from the title to reflect the framework's enduring relevance. We now refer to it simply as Vision 2040 and Strategic Framework. The six core strategic themes have been reordered to reflect current priorities, and their thematic statements have been refined to express new institutional goals.
