Registration and fees

All newcomer (undergraduate and postgraduate) and returning students must register for the 2026 academic year at Stellenbosch University. It is each student’s responsibility to confirm when they have to register, and that they are registered for the correct academic programme and correct modules.  

All students are encouraged to register online (self-registration) via the student portal, but for those who cannot register online, on-campus assisted registration will be available to students on the Stellenbosch, Tygerberg and Bellville Park campuses.  

• Please note that different registration periods and procedures may apply to newcomer first-year and new postgraduate students, and for returning undergraduate and postgraduate students on the respective campuses.
• First-time-entering undergraduate students are advised to follow the registration schedule carefully. Some programmes may close once the target number of students has been reached, and registration will therefore take place on a first-come, first-served basis.  
• It is vital to ensure that you are familiar with the specific arrangements applicable to your study level, campus and academic programme. See links below for campus-specific (Stellenbosch, Tygerberg and Bellville Park) information and registration arrangements for international students.  

Registration-related services move to Coetzenburg Centre 

Due to the refurbishment of the Administration A building, assisted on-campus registration will take place at the Coetzenburg Centre (no 308 on the campus map) for students on the Stellenbosch campus.  

All registration-related services for students — including the Centre for Academic Administration, the Accommodation Office, Client Service Centre, Central Application Office, Student Finance (fees and bursaries) and student cards — will be clustered at the Coetzenburg Centre from 12 January to 20 February 2026.  

• Newcomer and returning students registering for faculties on the Stellenbosch campus must refer to the registration schedule for assisted registration. Take note of the dates and timeslots allocated to your study level, faculty and academic programme.
• Returning undergraduate students of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences based on the Stellenbosch campus, can register with Ms Jamie Fredericks [[email protected]] in the Coetzenburg Centre.
