Global Service Learning
The Global Service Learning (GSL) Programme is an experiential, transdisciplinary course offered during the June/July Summer School. It combines theoretical learning with hands-on community engagement, creating a unique opportunity for students to connect academic study with meaningful social impact.
This reading- and writing-intensive course encourages critical reflection and active participation in projects that foster social transformation. Conducted in collaboration with local schools and non-profit organisations in historically disadvantaged communities, the GSL Programme enables students to engage deeply with issues of development, equity, and citizenship.
Through this collaborative and immersive approach, the programme not only enhances students’ academic and intercultural learning but also contributes to Stellenbosch University’s mission of internationalisation and community engagement.
