The mandate of CUBL is aligned to the following institutional principles regarding the financial support of students:
- Enhancing student success through accessible and sustainable financial assistance.
- Promoting diversity by providing bursaries to students from designated race groups, socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds, and students with disabilities.
- Encouraging academic excellence by offering competitive financial support to high-achieving students.
- Supporting financial need by assisting students who lack the resources to fund their studies.
Our team of professional financial aid practitioners are committed to broadening access to higher education by informing prospective and current undergraduate students about funding opportunities available to ensure that no academically deserving student is prevented from further study due to financial need. We understand the application process can be stressful and we aim to provide support on a continuous basis to ensure a positive experience throughout.
This support includes:
- Responding to enquiries from students, parents, companies, and donors timeously.
- Providing guidance and assistance to students with financial planning.
- Awarding and allocating available funds.
- Financial management of financial aid: internal funds (SU funding) and external bursaries from companies and donors (SU external donor funding)
- Advertising available financial aid (refer to the University Yearbook, Part 2 Bursaries and Loans)
