The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) 2025/2026 was recently inaugurated at a ceremony to confirm the incoming members and honour the outgoing leaders. Central to the new team’s mission, is to “serve the student body with integrity, accountability, and purpose”.
“Our role is to represent student interests, ensure that student voices are heard at all institutional levels, and actively work towards improving the overall student experience,” explained Mr Ofentse Ledwaba, Secretary General and Communications Officer of the SRC.
He said that this year’s SRC brings together a diverse group of individuals with a “shared vision of building a more inclusive, engaging, and responsive campus environment”.
For this reason, the SRC will focus on student wellbeing, academic support, transformation, and strengthening communication between students and university structures. Their goal, he added, is not “not only address challenges faced by students, but to also create opportunities that enhance student life both inside and outside the classroom”.
“We recognise the responsibility entrusted to us and are dedicated to maintaining transparency in our work while fostering meaningful engagement with the student community. Throughout the remaining terms students can expect regular updates, initiatives, and platforms that encourage participation and dialogue,” added Ledwaba.
