Gabi Kietzka is a postdoctoral research fellow with the Mathematical Biosciences Lab in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Stellenbosch University.

Gabi has a deep interest in conservation, particularly in freshwater ecosystems. Her graduate research investigated how aquatic organisms can serve as indicators of ecosystem health, providing valuable insights for developing effective management approaches. She has focused especially on understanding these ecological relationships in transformed landscapes in South Africa.

In her current role, Gabi combines ecological research with mathematical tools, applying models to understand the drivers that impact biodiversity at various levels and gain a better understanding of how to conserve it.
