NMMU push Maties to the very end
After two rounds of Varsity Cup action, FNB Maties are the log leaders with ten points, followed by Shimlas (9), UJ (8) and NWU-Pukke (7).
A superb kick from Theo Stapelberg clinched the victory against FNB NMMU on Monday evening (15 February) and ensured that FNB Maties remained undefeated in the competition. They beat NMMU 27 – 25.

The FNB Maties opened their Varsity Cup campaign in style with a convicing victory against the FNB CUT Ixias last Monday.
New Maties head coach Hawies Fourie would have been more than pleased with his side’s performance against FNB CUT.
The match was played at a packed Danie Craven Stadium in Stellenbosch, where FNB Maties blew FNB CUT of the park with an emphatic 40-0 victory to make an early statement to the other teams in the tournament.
