This week thousands of new Maties arrived at Stellenbosch to start their University career. One of the first opportunities they will have during the welcoming week is to engage with the Stellenbosch community during the annual Social Impact morning on 28 January 2016. The Social Impact morning is the first event of the social impact calendar where the students are able to engage with community members and organisations to the benefit of all involved.

The Social Impact morning is hosted by Matie Community Service (MCS) in conjunction with House Committee members from the various residences. The aim is to introduce the new students to social impact and to build on the culture of community engagement that exists at SU. 

"Social Impact is one of the key strategies of Stellenbosch University through which it strives to serve South Africa, and the continent, by serving various stakeholders from civil society, government and business in order to contribute to the realisation of global development goals. We encourage our students to get involved with social impact projects through their residences, PSOs, student associations and faculty committees in order to provide them with a total learning experience." explains Ms Benita Jansen, Acting Head of MCS.
