
New departments & divisions
After thorough consultation, the decision to unbundle the FHMS Department of Interdisciplinary Health Sciences (DIHS) was approved by our Faculty Board and the Senate at the end of last year, effective as of 1 January 2017. The DIHS has been unbundled into four departments and the positions for the new executive heads as well as divisional heads will be advertised internally to appoint suitable candidates. As a result Prof Usuf Chikte, previous head of the DIHS, will serve as acting head in a number of departments and divisions until the vacancies have been filled.
