​​​With his inaugural lecture on modernity in Afrikaans literature, Prof. Visagie proved his knowledge of and insight into his subject. His research on male subjectivity in Afrikaans literature, and more recently on the depictions of human and animal relationships in literature, continues to contribute to the field of Afrikaans as well as South African literature.Visagie was appointed as professor in Afrikaans literature in the Department of Afrikaans and Dutch in 2015.Prof. Visagie (left) was photographed with Prof. Johan Hattingh, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the event on Monday.
