Science Café: You and your microbes

Media & Communication, Faculty of Science
23 February 2016

The latest research on the human microbiome - that is the entire 'ecosystem' of all the bacteria, yeast, parasites, viruses and other single-celled eukaryotes living on and inside your skin - will be the topic under discussion at Science Café Stellenbosch on Tuesday 8 March 2016.

Well-known environmentalist Dave Pepler will lead the conversation with Prof. Gideon Wolfaardt, microbiologist and director of the Stellenbosch University Water Institute.

According to Prof. Wolfaardt, one of these days you will encourage your youngster to swallow that piece of grime he just grovelled out of his or her nose! Why? Because it is great for their immune system!

Science Café Stellenbosch is an initiative of the Faculty of Science at Stellenbosch University to promote the public discussion of science. Entrance is free of charge and the conversations start at 18:30 at Die Plataan behind the Sasol Art Museum.
