Message from Joe Smit, Acting Chief Director Information Technology

Like every other year @IT, 2023 was indeed full of surprises, challenges, and changes. For many of the IT staff members, it was probably a rough year. The rapid pace of technological change is continually evolving demanding agility and a readiness for rapid change in many areas of our lives.

I can only say thank you to all IT staff for your contribution to making IT a success in 2023. Amongst all the challenges, together we still came out on top and achieved many planned and unplanned goals.  2024 holds a promise of a silver lining.  We look forward to the appointment of our new Chief Director.  Going forward, we will innovate, motivate, and grow stronger together.

I hope that most of the IT staff will be able to get some rest over the festive season.  Please enjoy these times with your family and friends and come back safe in 2024. A word of special thanks to all my colleagues within IT and outside of IT for the incredible support I have received over the last couple of months during my role as acting Chief Director.
