Corporate Marketing / Korporatiewe Bemarking
22 January 2016

More than 12 000 students have already made use of self-registration/e-registration (at my.sun.ac.za) at Stellenbosch University (SU). Students who for some reason were however not yet able to self-register online can do so on Monday (25 Jan) and Tuesday (26 Jan) – for first year students – and from Tuesday (26 Jan) to Thursday (28 Jan) for seniors.

Also please note the following:

  • Registration is done in accordance with the registration schedule provided to students towards the end of last year. The schedule is also printed in the welcoming programme.

  • All students registering for the first time are requested to make sure that they have the right documents available to gain access to NARGA to register (more info here.)

  • Online registration (self-registration) closes on 26 January for first year students and on 28 January  for senior students.

  • On-campus registration takes place in "NARGA" (computer user area for students in the Faculty of Science) in the Admin A building. The entrance to NARGA is on the northern side of Admin A building, facing towards the Science Building and Merriman Avenue.

  • On-campus registration at the Tygerberg Campus is on Friday 22 January, also in accordance with the registration schedule provided.

  • First-year students in the Extended Degree Programmes must preferably make use of the normal registration process in NARGA.

  • Students registering for their postgraduate degree for the first time must do so in person, it cannot be done electronically.

Fees at registration

SU does not have registration fees, but requires the first instalment of the study fees which is R10 512 for undergraduate students (R20,137 in total for undergraduate students in residence) and R7 665 postgraduate students (R17,290 for postgraduate in residence). Students can however apply for a delayed payment which means that they can pay the first instalment over three months (January, February and March).

Outstanding debt

With regard to outstanding debt, a student who receives a bursary for 2016 which covers at least the outstanding debt as well as the first instalment for 2016, will be allowed to register.

Corrections to modules

Students in the Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences, Science, and Economic and Management Sciences,  who need to add or delete modules after registration in NARGA, or who are unsure on what to do on the e-registration, should register for what they can and then come to NARGA on Friday 29 January from 08:00-12:00 to make corrections. Corrections to module registration for all faculties can also be done online in the first two weeks of classes until Friday 12 February, or at the Faculty Officers in Admin A, also till Friday 12 February.

Student cards

Students who opted for self-registration must activate their student cards during the allotted time slots as indicated on the normal registration programme. Also note that seniors do not have to collect a new student cards as these are automatically activated after a successful registration.
